Online Meetups
To foster exchange within the German speaking community on user-centered AI, especially between industry and academia, we organize regular online meetups.
6th Virtual Meetup: July 17th, 2025, 16:00 CEST
The sixth virtual meetup will take place on July 17th, 2025. We are happy to announce that this time we will have the following two talks:
- Paul Lukowicz on the HumaneAI Project
- The EU-funded HumanE-AI-Net project brings together leading European research centres, universities and industrial enterprises into a network of centres of excellence. Leading global artificial intelligence (AI) laboratories will collaborate with key players in areas, such as human-computer interaction, cognitive, social and complexity sciences. The project is looking forward to drive researchers out of their narrowly focused field and connect them with people exploring AI on a much wider scale. The challenge is to develop robust, trustworthy AI systems that can ‘understand’ humans, adapt to complex real-world environments and interact appropriately in complex social settings. HumanE-AI-Net will lay the foundations for designing the principles for a new science that will make AI based on European values and closer to Europeans.
- Michael Überschär on the AI Working Group (AK KI) – German UPA
- The AI Working Group explores how generative AI is transforming UX design and product development, focusing on establishing best practices for human-AI interaction, ethical considerations, and the evolution of project roles in the AI era. We bring together UX professionals to share knowledge, develop standards, and actively shape the future of AI-powered user experiences. Our activities include regular workshops, webinar series like the “UX-AI Spring Weeks,” and collaborative research on topics ranging from AI tools in design processes to design heuristics for AI systems. The working group serves as a platform for German UPA members to stay at the forefront of AI developments while building practical solutions for current industry challenges.
Invitations will soon be sent out to all group members. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in attending.
5th Virtual Meetup: March 7th, 2024, 16:00 CEST
The fifth virtual meetup will take place on March 7th, 2024. We are happy to announce that this time we will have three talks, one from academia and two from industry:
- Unveiling Adaptive AI: A Comprehensive Classification for AI-Based System Adaptivity
by Doreen Engelhardt, Audi AG - Escaping the Trap of Distraction: AI-Supported Multitasking in Human-Computer Interaction
by Philipp Wintersberger, University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (Campus Hagenberg) - Ein Blick in die Zukunft von großen Sprachmodellen in der Industrie
by Tobias Grosse-Puppendahl, Porsche AG
Click here for more information. Invitations will soon be sent out to all group members. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in attending.
4th Virtual Meetup: 16th November 2023, 16:00 CEST
After a break, the fourth virtual meetup took place on November 16th, 2023. This time, we had two inspiring talks, again from industry and academia:
- Convergence of Conversational User Interfaces, Prompt Engineering and No-Code Prototyping
by Anjelika Votintseva, Siemens AG - Human-AI Interaction in Writing Tools
